Take a unique way to explore the true beauty of Killarney with a spectacular guided hike of Torc Mountain where you will get to experience the incredible scenery of Ireland’s first national park.

We will take you on a magical journey that starts at Muckross House and takes in Muckross lake, Torc Waterfall, ancient woodlands and then finally reaching the summit of Torc, 525m, for a majestic view of the Lakes of Killarney and its surrounding mountains.

Learn about the geological makeup of this region and why Torc Mountain gets its name along with other fantastic myths and legends for an experience you will never forget.

Height Gain: 535 metres

Torc Mountain is a moderate mountain walk on trails and some uneven terrain. It is suitable for beginner to expert walkers but you are advised to wear and carry suitable hiking clothing and equipment – Please see below What To Bring for recommended list.

(Please arrive 15 minutes before departure time)
  • Rain Jacket/Pants
  • Walking boots/shoes
  • Rucksack or appropriate bag for carrying food/clothing
  • Suitable hiking clothing e.g. fleece, hat, gloves
  • No cotton t-shirts or jeans as these items will hold water and may accelerate chances of hypothermia
  • Spare clothes and shoes for after activity
  • Warm drink and water (1 litre approx)
  • Food e.g. lunch, snacks, etc.
